Even though modern WebGIS technology allows the development of robust solutions for geographic data visualization and recording, it still involves a lot of time and effort to create applications from scratch. Most projects require a WebGIS with the same functionalities (content visualization, management, and search). However, the present market does not provide adequate free products that allow some Plug&Play solution whereby the site admin remains in control of the application and data.

During an internship at the University of the Aegean (Greece) with a cooperation of the University of Salzburg (Austria), a flexible web
application which is entirely based on FOSS was developed. This web application can easily be transferred to other projects and reduces the need for manual changes to the underlying code to a minimum. The application can be separated into two divisions which are more or less independent of each other.
